Hello!
Welcome to St Richards Church, we are a community of people of all ages, stages and backgrounds who share a common passion as followers of Jesus Christ.
Our goal is to be people who “Live for the Glory of Jesus Christ and the benefit of others”. We seek to do this by focussing on three big things: Knowing Jesus, Showing Jesus and Sharing Jesus.
Where
You will find our church centre located on Fermor Road just before it meets Walshes Road.
What
Our main gathering is on Sunday's where doors open at 10:15 for 10:45 start.
During the week we have the usual mix of small group activities from Little Seeds for pre-schoolers (Tue) to our companionship group for seniors called Friendship Hour (Mon), Ladies bible study (Fri), and Men's sausage roll club (Mon). Home groups (Wed aft/eve & Thu eve), youth activities (Mon/Tue). For more info. check out the Church Life section above or Contact Us.
Our Feel
To help you get a feel of what we are like as a community, our Sunday gatherings are the usual mix of prayers, preaching and praise, led by a variety of our congregation. We have a more relaxed down to earth feel, with some aspects being more light-hearted fellowship like being with family, coupled with a more serious grappling with the Word of God and times of prayer so that we are increasingly coming to Know Jesus, Show Jesus and Share Jesus. Our singing is a mix of current day songs and classical hymns, led by our band and we use the English Standard version of the bible, copies of which are provided. For our younger friends there is a crèche, Sunday Club (yrs 1-6) and Lazers (yrs 7-11). After our more formal time together we are encouraged to stay for refreshments, fellowship, and further prayer.
If you were to put us in a box, we would be classed as an Evangelical church with a low Anglican tinge, after all, we were planted by the two local parish churches.
Our Passions
You could ask "What's the point of St Richards?"
Our passion is to live for the glory of Jesus and the benefit of others, which we seek to achive through Knowing Jesus through his word and prayer, Showing Jesus through our lifestyle and community interactions, and Sharing Jesus through evangelism and using the gifts he has given us.
The church seeks to serve its members and local community, located in Alderbrook, but with many who also come from further afield. St Richard's has a reputation for being a caring church family where a warm welcome can be found each Sunday morning for worship together, and during the many varied weekly activities for all age groups.
